When asked a U.S.-Cuba policy question related to a Hellfire missile ending up in Cuba, the State Department spokesman responds with the law. Spinning with law. They’re in trouble.
I feel, somewhat, for this fellow. They have given him absolutely nothing to work with. And, I suspect that he knows, this is not going to go away anytime soon. So that rumbling you hear coming from Foggy Bottom is not isolated to the Cuba Desk …
Ambassador John Bolton was spot on during a Fox News Business Lou Dobbs interview, that Hellfire missile ending up in Cuba, and who knows what else, is an “extraordinarily serious” incident that warrants fulsome Congressional oversight:
By the way, the Arms Export Control Act, and a few other laws and regulations, do not preclude the State Department from discussing a policy matter.
Congress, what say you? This matter has been on your desk as well since, at least, the first quarter of 2014, months before Cuba was removed from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list.
