Frank talk has become a rare commodity in this town. Most of the time one is subjected to a lot of ‘happy talk’. This goes for politicos, government officials, as well as think tank types. So when someone says something that goes against the narrative, and is right, one takes notice. Or at least you should.
U.S. Admiral James Lyons, the former Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, has had a long and distinguished career. I’ve heard him speak at a conference or two throughout the years and I always learn a another way to think or analyze an issue. There are a lot of retired military on television and the think tank circuit these days, but, with a very few expectations, they just don’t make them like Admiral Lyons.
