Chinese Official Orders Death of Villager over a land dispute
If the government wants to take away your land to make way for economic development, what should it do? In this country, the government tries to buy you out. If that fails, legal action (and sometimes not very well thought out legal decisions). In China, a steamroller seems to do the trick:
The victim, He Zhi Hua, refused to accept a paltry payment from the government which has forcefully evicted Changsha Village locals in order to re-appropriate their land for commercial use. When Hua began a protest by lying down on the spot through which construction vehicles had to pass, the local Vice Mayor ordered workers for the state-owned company to murder Hua by driving over his body with a huge road-flattening truck.
The savagery of the Communist Party of China never ceases to amaze me, or even less so why we tolerate it? Cheap toys and consumer goods? Fortunately those days of extreme leverage over us may some day soon come to an end. There are options elsewhere around the world.
The Chinese Communist Party condones this type of activity because no one will challenge it. And if someone does, they simply smile and keep on doing whatever it is they wanted to do in the first place.
Be glad you live in a free country that respects the rule of law.
